Over 10 years ago I began a personal quest to move on from real or imagined limitations going on in my Life.

In August 2002 I had an accident that caused me to heal physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually, it also accelerated my desire to understand how man and the Universe co-exist.

Three years later in August 2005 I was guided to go to my office at home and write a couple of paragraphs on three different sheets of paper. I remember reading what I had written and thinking to myself this is “crazy, life can’t be this easy!”.

Eventually those paragraphs on those three sheets of paper became steps to a simple process that are Now called The Titus Concept.

The steps can be used in any area of your Life, but for my first book I decided to use them to guide others regarding money. So my first published book that was released in May 2006 was called The Titus Concept Money For My Best and Highest Good.

I continued to raise my level of awareness through mentors and spiritual guidance that I was being given. As my insights introduced me to a greater understanding, they confirmed that we are the ones who place limitations on ourselves by the false “truths” we have been influenced by or even accepted.

I have been blessed to continuously move forward and as I do…I also share the insights with thousands of others worldwide with my newsletters, speaking engagements, radio shows, and books.

BEing The Titus Concept is my newest book and in other posts in this blog you can read all of the endorsements that came in from seemingly everywhere.

But, here is the bottom line…

With every resource I have available my intention is to raise the level of awareness for as many people as possible so that they live and function from a Heart based consciousness, Love themselves unconditionally, release fear based values, and have the Lifestyle they desire and require.

Making a Life or a living?

The difference between making a Life or making a living is enough that it means whether or not we live in fulfillment of our Heart’s desires.

I am making a Life by raising the level of awareness for all those who will listen, which in turn is fulfilling my desire to shift the focus away from fear based values.

It is ok to make a living if that is what you desire, but I prefer to make a Life, it is part of what keeps me going and moving forward.

The Sequel's Not Equal

Movie theatres are glutted with follow-ups to blockbusters of previous years, like Men in Black 2, Austin Powers 3, and Star Wars 5. The business savvy behind a sequel is plain: if the masses paid millions to see the original film, they will flock back and pay millions more to see the next generation.

The thing about sequels, however, is that they rarely measure up to the original. I saw American Pie 2 and Scary Movie 2, two films whose ancestors were clever and hilarious. Unfortunately, the follow-ups suffered from rubber-stamp-itis, and I walked out of the theatre feeling hungry for the original sparkle.

Like movies, there are two ways to live a life: hiding out in history, or dancing on the cutting edge. History is safe, but reeks of regularity. The cutting edge seems scary, but it bestows life. You can copy what has been done, and in some cases you may succeed financially -- but at the same time you wither spiritually. Herein lies the challenge -- and invitation -- to a true creator.

After his original song Don't Worry, Be Happy became a mega-hit in the late 1980's, singer Bobby McFerrin spent several years touring the world performing the tune. And he could have gone on, except for one thing -- he got bored. "There was no life in performing the song any more," he admitted. "I was cheating my audiences and myself." So he stopped. Bobby took a few years off, developed his relationship with his children, studied with acclaimed cellist Yoyo Ma, and created an entirely new form of musical expression with an avant-garde group he called "Synchestra." I saw Bobby perform with Synchestra, and the show was electrifying. Although the audience waited and hoped to hear McFerrin perform Don't Worry, Be Happy, he never did. Way to go, Bobby.

Oprah Winfrey had to walk through the same initiation. After consistently winning Emmy Awards for her popular talk show for many years, Oprah decided it was time to take the program to a new level. "I had to move from a format based on dysfunction to one of self-actualization." When she told her producers she wanted to found her material on spiritual growth, they warned that she would lose her audience and sponsorship. She did it anyway. Now her show is more popular than ever, still garnering Emmys regularly. More important, Oprah can live with herself.

You can carve a career cranking out cookie-cutter products, but you cannot carve out a life that way. The only thing more important than making a living is making a life. Oliver Wendell Holmes suggested that anyone over age 60 change careers every few years. Why? Newness, challenge, and exploration bestow life force, and life force keeps us young and healthy. Unless you keep doing your work newer and better, you are dying in your profession. If you are not regenerating, you are degenerating.
I often speak at churches on Sunday mornings where I deliver a talk at each of two or three services. I rarely give the same talk at each of the services. I tried that once and felt bored. If a speaker feels bored, the audience doesn't stand a chance.
I heard about one famous speaker who delivered the same lecture, word for word, wherever he went, for many years. One morning he showed up at a large church to deliver a sermon to a thousand eager listeners. He had flown a long distance to get there, and he arrived minutes before the service. Ten minutes into his talk, the fellow began to slow down the pace of his lecture, and there grew gaps between his sentences. Then gaps between his words. Finally there was a long pause that went on for over 30 seconds. The lecturer fell asleep during his own address! Finally the resident minister gracefully tapped him on the shoulder. He awoke with a start, harrumphed, and continued his sermon from the word where he had left off.

The story is told about a young boy walking along a church corridor with his minister. The boy tugged at the minister's sleeve and asked, "Excuse me, Reverend -- What are those gold plaques on the wall with people's names on them?"
The minister looked down at the child and soberly told him, "Those are the names of people from our church who died in the service."

The child thought for a moment and asked, "Was that the 9 o'clock service or the 11 o'clock service?"

Take care that you do not die while performing your service. Someone asked a famous minister "What is the secret of your success?" His answer was simple: "I just set myself on fire and people watch me burn."

There is new fire in every day, and if you catch hold of it, you will brighten the lives of everyone you touch, beginning with your own. The greatest gift you have to offer is your presence, which you have only when you are present.

What in the World Are You Doing? by Chris Widener

I want to talk with you about leaving an impact legacy. "What is an impact legacy?" you may ask. It is how you impact people and the world around you. You see, many people glide through life and do not make much of an impact. That is unfortunate. Others though, those driven by a purpose and passion for living, are continually making the world a better place and making an impact wherever they go. That's what I believe you want to do.

In order to help you reflect on this during this week, I want to ask you a question: What in the world are you doing?

Here is the typical life - typical, though not everybody does it this way. But for the most part, people's lives generally go something like this:

You're born
You eat and sleep
You play with toys
You go to school
You play little league
You go to school
You learn to drive
You go to school
You leave high school
You go to more school, but you pay for it now
You get a job
You get married
You buy a house
You have kids
You watch your kids eat, sleep, play and go to school
You work, work, and work
You retire
You die

That's the basic life, isn't it? I know there is more to it, but that is about it for most people.

Here is that question again: What in the world are you doing?

I mean, what are you doing besides the typical "enjoying yourself while you are waiting to die" scenario? What kind of impact are you making?

What I believe sets the successful apart is that they don't just live the average life. They don't just pass time. They make an impact. They have something compelling in their life that drives them - something that gives them an answer when they are asked that question: What in the world are you doing?

I'm helping children.

I'm creating a business that supports many families.

I lead a church.

I am defending our liberties.

I am raising great children.

I'm teaching others to improve their lives.

I help people have fun.

I create memories for people.

In other words, successful people always come down to this:

I make an impact and help other people by (fill in your purpose here).

What in the world are you doing?

If you want to be successful, you need to be able to answer that by describing how you help others. Because if you aren't helping others - if you aren't making an impact - you are just taking up space, eating food and waiting to die.

Here's the question for you to answer this week and what to do with your answer:

What in the world are you doing?

If you know, then you are good to go - live it and make an impact!

If you don't know, then maybe you need to reflect on what you are doing, what your life is about, and how you can explode the mundane bubble you may be living in!

The world needs impact makers - so live to be one!

I Don't Care What They Say
by Marie T. Russell

How many times have you been hurt by what someone said about you? How many times have you doubted your self-worth because someone criticized you, either to your face or 'behind your back'?

Why do we react with such self-doubt or indignation when someone criticizes us, or says negative things about us?

I find that our reaction reflects our negative and limiting beliefs about ourselves. If someone said something 'bad' about you and you knew completely within every cell of your body that it was untrue, it would not bother you. You would simply shrug it off and it would roll off of you like water on a duck's back. The reason criticism upsets us is that we also, somehow, somewhere, deep within us believe it to be true -- or at least we wonder if it might be true.

Now your mind (ego) may rebel at this thought. Of course you don't believe such nasty things about yourself. But think back... How many times have you called yourself names when you made a mistake? Do you recall telling yourself how stupid you were? I know that on occasion when I have made an error, I would hear myself muttering 'You're such a idiot!'

So when someone says something 'negative' about you, use the opportunity to eradicate the same (or similar) belief you have about yourself or others. The other person's opinion does not matter in itself. It may simply reflect whatever judgments and feelings they have about themselves. But that does not concern you. Your only concern need be with how their statement reflects sub-conscious beliefs you have about yourself.

What I feel we need to do when someone 'badmouths' us is to first look at our reactions. That is what matters here. Not what the person said, not why they said it, not what we can say in our defense. What is important is our reaction. Does it anger us? Does it hurt us?

If your reaction is one of anger or hurt, be aware that anger and hurt are the ego's way of defending itself. So ask yourself, 'Where in my past have I heard this statement about myself? What belief has my subconscious accepted about me? Where does this hurt come from? Who can this belief be traced back to? What belief do I carry that resonates with what this person has said about me?'

Whatever negative statements someone makes about you may connect to some deeply hidden feelings of guilt that you have. Only you can uproot those beliefs you have formed and accepted throughout the years.

Ask yourself again and make a list: 'What are the things, even the tiny things, in my past or present that I feel guilty about?' And then write whatever trivial thoughts come to mind. Do not judge the thoughts that come up. Write them down even if you think they're stupid, silly, or inconsequential. It may be even some tiny thing like, "I took some candies from my friend when I was little and I pretended someone else stole them." That small action may have translated in your belief system into something like 'I am not trustworthy", "I am greedy", or "Friends can't be trusted".

In somewhat the same way, the thousands of commercials you have seen throughout the years of slim, sexy women (or men) may have translated into a belief that "I'm ugly if I'm not shaped like them." Life's experiences also form our beliefs. A divorce or relationship breaking up may have become a belief in being a failure and being undeserving of love.

Once you have your list of guilts, big and small, ask yourself and write down what belief you have formed from each one. You may be surprised at the results. Be willing to be 100% honest with yourself. The purpose is to look at the beliefs that you have formed throughout the years so you can transform them. Once you have the list of negative beliefs you have formed, then write the most positive belief you can think of to replace or reprogram each limiting belief.

Then really reflect and meditate on these lists. Look deep within and dig out any other beliefs and programs that are supporting those negative statements. Many times, these beliefs were implanted by parents, teachers, or siblings. We blindly accepted them as the truth, since they came from someone older and 'wiser' than us. Yet, it is time to acknowledge the real truth about ourselves and reject any beliefs that deny our true nature as children of the Light.

There is no need to create situations of unworthiness and unhappiness for ourselves. We can take every challenging experience as an opportunity to look within ourselves and clear out old limiting beliefs. Whatever we see 'out there' in the world is a reflection of what is 'in there' within our mind. If you see anger around you, ask yourself what you are angry about. If you see judgment and condemnation, look within and see how you also judge and condemn others (and yourself). It's not about the other person. It's about our own perspective and beliefs.

Dig deep, and you'll find those belittling beliefs and attitudes — then pull out the 'weeds'. You deserve to have a Garden of Eden within yourself and around you, not the weeds of judgment, disharmony, and self-condemnation. Love yourself and pull out the weeds, otherwise they may pop up at the most unexpected times and sabotage the most beautiful situations.

People often wonder why relationships start out so harmoniously and lovingly and then seem to sour as time goes by. A very simple explanation is that any relationship starts out with a clean slate. Then, as two people spend time with each other, each starts to become aware, consciously or subconsciously, of the other's 'weak points' and negative beliefs. Any situation or belief that brings up low self-esteem and self-judgments in one partner will be felt by the other. After a time, the second person starts to believe these untruths as well. For example, the husband may feel he has a very wonderful wife. Yet, if she constantly is putting herself down for being sloppy, ugly, unlovable, etc., then eventually the mate also starts believing these things. Thus, the relationship starts deteriorating because of one person's self-evaluation and judgments.

The partner's attitude becomes a reflection of the self-hate and low self-esteem of the other. Beliefs become stronger when reflected in another's eyes, and thus the "new reality" becomes stronger and can therefore destroy the beauty and love that was there at the beginning.

So, here again, the key is to dig up the limiting beliefs and eradicate them. They are poisonous and can poison relationships, job situations, and life itself. Take matters in your own hands, and only accept and nurture those beliefs that support your perfect health and happiness.

Given Life

With all that is

During the Ilumine Ao radio show on Sunday we talked about energies that are available to all of us. Part of it dealt with facing certain directions, nature, and even the wind. As my understanding of these types of different energies grew I realized that as I walk out into my backyard I am facing east and also looking at my small forest of trees. Healing and empowerment

Tonight we are having a get together in our home with family and friends to celebrate my birthday that is actually on Sunday the 30th. Moments to have

We can get busy during our daily lives, and not that the stuff that we do is not important to us, but during our focus on other things we kind of put aside what is really important. Getting closer

10 days to go until my book ‘BEing The Titus Concept’ officially launches. All those around me and even those from far distances are telling me that the book is going be successful. My own Heart even tells me that it is going to do well.

But then my ego gets in the way (though well intentioned) and starts questioning things. Not so much doubt, but is there enough being done at every level. Almost like trying to get me to figure how to do more so that the launch is as successful as it can be.

Create the vacuum for your desires

Yesterday I took sometime off from the deadlines and the promotional campaign for my new book ‘BEing The Titus Concept’. I did some work around my home that took up most of the day to get it ready for a couple of big events my wife and I will be having this week.

Support from the other side

It’s getting closer to the launch date and it seems like everyday there is something more to do or another deadline to meet. Yesterday as I was doing the write-up for the sales/landing page I realized that very few people knew what the importance of Friday December 5th is to me other than it being the launch date for my new book ‘BEing The Titus Concept’.

It is my mom’s birthday, who transitioned to the other side this past April. Originally when 1st World Publishing and I had an agreement on the book it was going to be released in January, but the day we signed the contract it was moved to December and I suggested the 5th, to which they said yes.

Are you "alive"?

This morning I am headed over to the Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk office to order a copy of my birth certificate. Last night on the Ilumine Ao radio show my co-host was Nick Arrizza and we were sharing our insights on “The Power of The Heart”.

Signs of what you desire

As I guide others to remember their own answers or their own inner “Truth”, I also guide them to have the trust and inner kNowing beyond faith and hope.

I understand that sometimes that could be “challenging” when there is something that you desire and it has yet to surface in your reality. That somehow you are to trust that it is already on its way.

Like a new baby

There is something that is meeting head on with all the gloom and doom. Something very subtle, but very powerful. Almost like a riptide, you can’t see it, but when your in the ocean you sure can feel it.

Perhaps we as humanity are realizing our own innate power, both collectively and individually. Perhaps we have decided to move forward from where we come from, the natural state of progression, just like the rest of the Universe.

Maybe we finally come to terms that the mindset we have been functioning from as individuals and collectively doesn’t really work or serve us.

Are we awake Now to know that being completely dependent on anyone or anything is dis-empowering?

It is ok to BE inter-dependent, and even better to BE independent.

Fear is driven by being dependent on something outside of your Self, you give your power to something outside of your Self to which you really have no control of. Which is utterly ridiculous!

But everyday it seems more and more people are taking their power back. Almost as if to say in your world it may be doom and gloom, but in my world I am anxious as a birthday child getting ready to open a new persent.

There is an undercurrent of Light, but you must BE open to feel it. What we are going through are opportunities of a Life time. It is Now that we can create a ripple effect for ourselves and for our future generations.

Just tell your Self:
“I am who I am, I am different, and I am making a difference for my Self, my family and Loved ones, and for all future generations…”

So that one day after you are gone they will reflect back and say you made a difference for best and highest good of all…

BE blessed

If you can receive, accept, and experience what I am about to say your Life will be greatly enhanced. This is not a theory, this is fact! I kNow, I experience it and so do others.

Fact: As you raise your vibration or the energy you emanate the people, resources, situations, scenarios, or circumstances all around you will match that vibration or energy.

For the last few years I have been blessed to have all of the above come into my Life, it has been an amazing ride. But it all happened because I Loved my Self unconditionally, had wiser thoughts, and took inspired action.

The blessings and opportunities that have come and are coming into my Life and even with those around me are amazing. This past weekend I had two gatherings at my home one was for like-minded people, and the other was to be supported, guided, and assisted on my path and message. All of it was a huge blessing for all of us.

But none of this would have happened if I hadn’t taken conscious and deliberate actions such as Loving my Self unconditionally.

Regardless of what is going on in our external reality we all have the opportunity, ability and/or power to bring to ourselves what we desire or require in our lives.

STOP believing this is how Life is!
STOP believing these are bad times!
STOP believing in bad luck!
STOP blaming yourself or anyone, or anything!
STOP faulting anyone or anything!
STOP believing this is how fate would have it!
STOP believing these are the cards you were dealt with!
STOP believing this as good as it gets!
STOP living and functioning purely from ego!

JUST STOP! and… That would end what no longer serves you for your best and highest good.

START raising your vibration!
START raising your energy!
START living in gratitude!
START adding value to this world with your unique gifts, strengths, and talents!
START honoring who you are and what you are!
START Loving your Self unconditionally!
START living and functioning from your Heart!

Miracles and magic

This past weekend my wife and I had the opportunity to attend Joe Vitale’s Miracle’s Weekend / The Awakening Seminar in San Diego, Ca.

Have you ever attended a seminar and shortly there after the notes you took sit somewhere and collect dust or the aha’s seem to just fade away. Every now and then some of the insights do stick around and remain part of your Life, part of the reason is because we make a conscious effort to hold onto and utilize those insights, and the other part of the reason is because those who are guiding us are expressing “Truth” that resonates within us.

Every single speaker during the seminar expressed “Truth” that resonated, every speaker received an ovation, every speaker motivated me to take notes of great insights, every speaker produced miracles, every speaker to a huge extent shared their gifts, strengths, and talents, it was just simply an amazing weekend of magic…

Because all of the above I even added my own frosting on the cake to the magic, I asked every speaker to be on my Ilumine Ao radio show, and with my intention to have them all on separate dates as co-hosts in November.

Within this blog all I can do is offer guidance and plant a seed the rest is up to you... I know we all have different ways of interpreting what is told to us, some we accept others we discard. About the economy and guidance

The following article by Doreen Virtue discusses the guidance she received from her angels in regards to the economy. There are some great insights she is sharing, but what is also important and of value is that we can also receive guidance other than from what we see and hear in our external reality. I am aware of this guidance as my mom who transitioned this past April supports me every single day.

The Angels on the Economy by Doreen Virtue

Economic conditions are more affected by human beliefs and expectations, than by oil prices or political concerns. This is true for you personally, as well as for everyone globally. Your personal finances are greatly influenced by your expectations and emotions, so it’s doubly important to keep your thoughts and feelings at as high a level as possible.

The angels advise:
Avoid any thoughts or discussions about blaming politicians, countries, or anyone else for your personal or the global economy. Placing blame upon others puts you in a victim role, energetically. This lowers your energies, and has you attract more experiences of victimization.


If you are around someone (including a media report) who is making negative statements about money or the economy, silently (or aloud if the person is open-minded) say: “Cancel, Clear, Delete” or “In spiritual truth, we are all perfectly and abundantly supported. I now open my arms to receive and share plentifully.”


Engage in activities that make you happy! Please don’t scrimp on hobbies or trips, but instead look at them as investments in your happiness, which is the most important influence in your personal economic conditions. When you are happy, you automatically attract and create new opportunities. Your happiness also lifts up the energies of those around you.


Affirm frequently: “God is omnipresent love, wisdom, and creativity. I am forever one with God’s grace and love. I am completely supported in all ways by the love of God. I follow my Divine guidance along pathways of giving of selfless service, and receiving the support that God offers to everyone.”


Keep your thoughts about other people’s finances at a very high level. Frequently affirm that we are all richly abundant in all ways. Avoid any pity thoughts about anyone, but do give donations and support as you are guided.


Don’t worry about HOW your finances will be supported or resolved. Remember that God’s creativity, wisdom, and love is boundless. Your prayers will be answered in surprising, miraculous, and unexpected ways.


Whenever you get a strong intuitive lead to do something positive, follow it without delay! Remember that God frequently answers your prayers by giving you strong and repetitive messages to take action. These messages may come to you as an emotional or physical feeling; an idea or inspiration; a vision or dream; or words that you hear. As you follow this guidance, you co-create the answer to your prayers.

The angels say that we are already collectively seeing economic improvements which will continue into October and November. You can see and experience these improvements for yourself with faith, hope, and trust. Pray for more faith, and it is always given – I especially recommend praying for increased faith, hope, and trust as you’re falling asleep – you’ll be amazed at how much better you feel when you wake up in the morning.

Loving every aspect of your Self unconditionally

There was a time when I only concentrated being on the spiritual path, because I thought then that there would be more peace and joy in my Life. To some degree that did occur... But in the overall scheme of Life I was leaving other aspects of my Life out of the equation and realized that all areas and levels of my Life are just as equally important. Judgment Is As Judgment Does

It has been tremendously helpful for me to understand the difference between consciousness and spirituality. Spirituality is one type of energy — the energy that links us to our deepest essential nature and to the universal source. Consciousness is the awareness of all of the energies within us. Thus, it is quite possible to follow a spiritual path that is not necessarily a consciousness path. That is, we could work on developing the spiritual dimension of our being, without necessarily developing the other aspects. We can become spiritually developed and totally identified with our "spiritual self". In this case, we would usually disown many other energies, especially the physical and emotional ones. That's why we see so many people who are very highly attuned spiritually, but may be completely out of balance in their physical and emotional lives.

Consciousness, on the other hand, involves developing and integrating all the many aspects of our being, including, but not limited to, the spiritual.

The path of transcendence is a spiritual path, while the path of transformation is a consciousness path. Contacting and developing our spiritual nature is an important part of the consciousness journey, but there are many other important parts as well. The path of transformation involves a powerful commitment to every level of growth.

One of my concerns about the New Age movement is its focus on transcendence rather than transformation. Many are hoping that by developing spiritually, they can rise above their problems and not have to face the challenge of integrating their spiritual and human natures. They feel comfortable and safe exploring the spiritual and mental realms, but hope to avoid the more painful or difficult emotional healing work. Of course, it is a perfectly legitimate option to choose a transcendent path, but it will not bring about profound healing and wholeness for the individual or for the world. And ironically, the peace of mind that so many people seek on the transcendent path cannot be fully achieved by focusing exclusively on that reality.

Feel The Feeling

In New Age circles there is much talk about unconditional love. Many teachers urge their followers to practice forgiveness, be non-judgmental, and love fully without conditions, and many sincere seekers are earnestly trying to follow these teachings. I have a problem with the way these ideas are often presented. Of course, judgments are unpleasant, separating, and uncomfortable for all concerned. Forgiveness is a powerful and healing force for both the giver and the recipient. And there's nothing more blissful than giving and/or receiving unconditional love. However, there is a lot of confusion and misunderstanding about these processes, and much of what is being taught is coming from the transcendent rather than the transformative approach.

Again, we must recognize the difference between our spiritual essence and human personality. As spiritual beings, we are always at one with universal love, which is always unconditional and non-judgmental. The personality, however, has the goal of learning to live in the physical world and get our emotional needs met. On the personality level, we are fundamentally concerned with protecting and caring for the vulnerable child within us; our feelings of love are entwined with our needs for safety, trust, and intimacy. We have powerful defense mechanisms in our personalities that can close off our feelings of love when we don't feel safe.

Rather than denying or trying to suppress these feelings and reactions, we need to respect and appreciate the function of our human personality. It is not by nature unconditionally loving. Much healing can take place when we recognize this as a given and are able to honor both our spiritual and our human nature.

When we feel judgmental, rather than denying those feelings, we need to look deeply into them to discover what is triggering them. Usually, we feel judgmental when we are frustrated because we have not followed our own truth in some way, or because we are having to confront another person who is reflecting one of our disowned selves back to us. So, instead of simply blocking ourselves from experiencing our judgmental feelings, we need to be attentive to the fact that our judgments can provide us with clues for what we need to look at in ourselves; ultimately, they are healing gifts. If we try to suppress or ignore the feelings, we miss the opportunity for learning and consciousness. Condemning ourselves for being judgmental is simply judging ourselves for being judgmental!

Obtaining Knowledge

What stops people from embarking on the transformational path? For many, it is simply a lack of knowledge. They aren't aware that such an opportunity exists, or perhaps they aren't sure how to go about finding it. Lack of knowledge is not the only roadblock on the consciousness path. Another one is fear. We all fear the unknown, of course, and this particular journey certainly is unpredictable in many ways. That's why it is so important to cultivate a personal relationship with our inner guidance. Unless we feel some sense of a higher force working with us, it is simply too frightening to leave our familiar territory.

Many people are afraid of emotional healing work. There are so many misunderstandings and stereotypes about psychotherapy. Unfortunately, there are also many less than adequate or downright harmful therapists and healers, and many people who have had negative, disappointing or downright traumatic experiences with them. So it is extremely important to choose your helpers wisely and carefully.

I have found that most people are afraid that if they begin exploring deep feelings, they will get stuck there and never emerge. When feelings have been repressed and disowned, they feel very intense and powerful, and it is easy to feel that they might overwhelm us forever if we ever give them the opportunity.

However, the facts are quite different. If we move into our healing process at our own pace, without pushing ourselves and with the right support, it is not nearly as difficult as we might fear. Each of us has an internal mechanism that guides the pace of our journey. Once we allow ourselves to experience an emotion freely, we discover that rather than washing us away, the wave of feeling gradually subsides and leaves us with a deep sense of wonderful peace.

Tap Into Love

The key to unconditional love is found in the love our spirit has for our personality. When we can tap into spirit, we can unconditionally love ourselves — including the parts of us that are angry, judgmental, needy, and selfish. Then we naturally feel compassion and acceptance toward others as well. We recognize in them the same human attributes that we have learned to love in ourselves. By loving and honoring our own personality in this way, we gain clear vision about other people's development on the personality level. We can maintain appropriate boundaries, making wise choices about who it's appropriate to get close to. At the same time, through our connection with our own divine essence, we naturally recognize and acknowledge the spiritual being in everyone else, even those with whom we know we must maintain some distance.

Remember that it doesn't really work to try to feel love, or any other feeling. Our feelings are not controlled by our will, and most attempts to assert this kind of power over them leads to denial, repression, and disowning parts of ourselves, or to an expression of feeling that is not authentic.
By acknowledging and honoring any feeling — no matter how "unacceptable" we might have previously judged it to be — we create space for its opposite. So trying to love unconditionally is a contradiction. Unconditional love is some thing that arises naturally when we can accept all our feelings and love all parts of us, including the parts that aren't unconditionally loving.
